RCT Hosts “Shakthi – 2026”, Empowering Transgender Police with Dignity and Inclusion

40 Uniform Kits Distributed to Transgender Police Personnel as a Symbol of Pride and Equality

Hyderabad, April 14, 2026: Radhika Charitable Trust (RCT) successfully organized “Shakthi – 2026”, a meaningful initiative focused on empowerment, awareness, and social inclusion, at the Telangana Integrated Command Control Centre (TGICCC), Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on 13th April, 2026.

A key highlight of the program was the distribution of 40 uniform kits to transgender police personnel, marking a proud and symbolic moment of inclusion within the Telangana Police. The initiative went beyond material support—each uniform kit represented dignity, identity, and recognition of the transgender community’s rightful place in society and public service.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, along with Guests of Honour Mr. K. Padmanabhaiah, IAS (Retd.), Former Home Secretary, Government of India, and Mr. D. Joel Davis, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. V.C. Sajjanar said, “I had the opportunity to work with Radhika and the RCT Trust earlier during my tenure as Cyberabad Commissioner, and I am glad to be associated again. Today, 38 transgender personnel are successfully managing traffic duties on city roads, which is truly commendable. Supporting them with traffic kits and groceries is a thoughtful initiative. Leading life as a transgender person is not easy, yet for the past two years, they have been performing their duties efficiently and with dedication. I am also happy to note that Shiny, one of the members, is doing well professionally at Deloitte. We are looking forward to recruiting more transgender personnel in the near future. With NGOs like Radhika stepping forward, many more such impactful initiatives can be taken up. I congratulate her for initiating ‘Shakthi – 2026’.”

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Radhika Reddy Tanguturu, Founder of RCT, said, “Shakthi – 2026 is not just about distributing uniforms—it is about restoring confidence, building pride, and sending a strong message that every individual deserves respect, opportunity, and dignity. Today, as transgender personnel proudly wear these uniforms, they carry not just a role, but a powerful symbol of change and acceptance.”

The program celebrated the resilience and courage of the transgender community, acknowledging their journey and their integration into the police force as a progressive step toward equality. The presence of senior officials further reinforced institutional support for inclusive growth and representation.

“Shakthi – 2026” stood as a testament to the belief that true societal progress is achieved when diversity is embraced and every individual is empowered. Through this initiative, RCT reaffirmed its commitment to building a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable society.

Founded in 2010, Radhika Charitable Trust (RCT) is a Hyderabad-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting social equity through initiatives in education, healthcare, and community inclusion.
